The Sum of Us by Heather McGhee

In 2020, Calumet created a Calumet Book Club in response to heinous and violent acts of racism taking place throughout the Untied States. Over the years there were many opportunities to learn and all books have been simply fantastic. Regardless of the size of the group, the Zoom chats helped with authentic learning, new understandings, and shifting perspectives. Though almost all the books have been rooted in the lousiness of racism, there were a couple of books chosen to help us think about the experience of others who experience life on the the margins.

In late 2023, Calumet was blessed to be asked to partner with the AntiRacism Collaborative Board (formerly New England Synod Anti Racism Advisory Board) on book discussion experiences.

Scroll down to see all the books Calumet Nation has read together -- the ones more recently have been in tandem with the AntiRacism Collaborative Board of the New England Synod.
