Calumet welcomes new
Director of development
and communications:

Stephanie Johnson

Calumet Lutheran Ministries is delighted to announce that Stephanie Johnson has accepted the position of Director of Development and Communications.

A lifelong member of the Calumet community, Stephanie is no stranger to camp. She spent her childhood in Weeks 7 & 8 as a camper, where she was a devoted music camper, before returning as an L&S in 2011. From 2012–2014, she served as a Yellows counselor and in the M&D Department. She has stayed connected to camp through Family Camp Plus and Women’s Retreats, performing this year as a musician for Women’s Weekends 2 and 3. Camp has been a home away from home throughout her life, and returning feels truly special.

As someone who grew up coming to camp, Calumet has shaped so much of who I am. I’m excited to give back to the place that raised me and to help create opportunities for others to experience that same kind of belonging,” she says.

Stephanie is a graduate of Harvard College (Class of 2018), where she studied History and Literature. She previously worked as the Head of Students at 343 Labs, a music production school. Stephanie brings experience in fundraising and organizing, combining her professional skills with her lifelong passion for community-building and the arts. Outside of Calumet, she is an award-winning singer/songwriter with an active music career under the name Lila Wilde.

With her lifelong love of camp, as well as her creative leadership and fundraising experience, Stephanie is ready to support Calumet’s mission and help nurture the next generation of campers. She looks forward to partnering with staff, supporters, and the wider Calumet community to build the future of a place that has always felt like home.

We give thanks to Kurt Jones, who served as interim development director during the transition period and has concluded his time on staff with a successful and inspiring Giving Tuesday. Stephanie will begin her full-time work on January 12, 2026. Calumet is thrilled to welcome her!
