Camp Calumet's accommodations are perfect for nearly any group. Our staff offers some of the best planned programming available to congregations, families, and youth. We also excel at helping a group plan its own, customized retreat. Whether you are a congregation looking for a place to hold an annual getaway, a quilting group looking for a quiet place where you can focus on the creative passion you enjoy so much, or a youth group looking for a weekend of fun and excitement, the Calumet staff is ready and willing to help you plan a retreat tailored to your specific needs.
Calumet offers a wide range of facilities, services, and accomodations to fit every budget. Our delicious meals are available a la carte, or as part of a flexible meal plan that can be fitted to your group's particular needs and budget.
Here's a few lines from Clare about her group's experience at Calumet and it being a great place for a retreat:
"Gethsemane Lutheran Church Women’s Retreat
"Blessed. Blessed is the word, the feeling to express so many aspects of the GLC Women’s Retreat at Calumet Camp and Conference Center. In very simple terms the weather was beautiful for walks, a pontoon boat ride, sitting on the rocking chairs reading and talking, and gathering together in the Outdoor Chapel on Sunday morning. As always, the food is delicious and plentiful. The kitchen staff is so gracious, it is like eating in their personal kitchen with a few other people. The accommodations are comfortable and the hosts in the office are kind and answer any call we ask for. The Micah room is an oasis. We arrive from our homes with work and worries on our minds, and begin to relax, reconnect, and prepare ourselves to live and learn and grow in faith.
"Blessed. We do pray and meditate that the Holy Spirit will take our preparations, our time, and help us to be open to sharing and listening to each other with a clean heart. We were 13 women and the Holy Spirit moved our hearts. What are we afraid of: health, future, family, money and sometimes the world near and far. We know we have God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit to help guide and reassure us. Once again we are blessed. We left Calumet as 13 women who know, care, and love one another.
"We enjoy laughing, telling our stories, and just being quiet. I imagine God looking down and reflecting ‘this is good’. The conversations at meals are about genealogy, family, friends, illness, yoga, health, and even television and movies. It is so fun and refreshing. The Calumet Office has already reserved next year for the 22nd GLC Women’s Retreat.
"Finally, the staff at Calumet, Alice, Paul, and our retreat specialist John and the kitchen staff, exemplify doing God’s Work with Their Hands."
