Sunday Worship

In the beautiful late spring, summer, and early fall, we gather in the Outdoor Chapel under a canopy of trees. Guests can park at the Conference Center and follow the crowds across the street. Some guests arrive with their own lawn chairs. If it rains, we head to Luther Hall by lakeside. Beginning in mid-October, our Sunday morning worship takes place at Calumet's Conference Center.

Join us for Sunday morning worship at Calumet - all year long - at 10 AM.

Occasionally, there is no Sunday worship at Calumet (Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday).  Sunday, Janaury, 5, 2020 there will be no worship at Calumet. You are welcome to attend Lutheran Church of the Nativity in North Conway if you are in the area. During our Bell Ringers Weekend, Janauary 26, 2020,  we join the First Christian Church in Freedom for worship at 10am. Contact Judy ( for information.

There are four major parts of the Lutheran worship experience. "The Gathering" comes first. We sing some songs, pray, think about the ways we have fallen short, and hear the reminder that God loves with arms of mercy that stretch forth and wrap around each person.Outdoor ChapelOutdoor Chapel Then "The Word" when we hear a couple of verses from the Bible, listen to the Chaplain share some of his/her thinking about how God might be speaking to us at that moment, and share prayer petitions with God. The third section of the service is "The Meal" when we share and celebrate Holy Communion -- EVERYONE is welcome at the Lord's Table. And we totally mean it! Last is "The Sending." Essentially it's this -- "Now go out there and love people the way God loves you." We sing and we smile at each other and we head out with the hope that we can more fully be the compassionate people God has called us to be.

Please come. Find a seat. Relax. Make eye contact with someone and smile. Know that you are part of a community made up of individuals who are just doing the best they can. We like to sing, we like to pray, and we like to wonder together. And we try to be on our way in about an hour.

Whether you're visiting the area for the weekend, or you live nearby ... whether you have the gift of a deep faith, or you are struggling with all kinds of doubts ... whether you believe in all of your Church denomination's doctrines, or you get frustrated with all of those rather less important things that bring about division ... Sunday morning at Calumet is a welcome place for all people who value a time set apart for God. We get going at 10 AM. There'll be a spot waiting for you!
