Job Title: Director of Family and Adult Programs

Reports to: Executive Director

Category: Full-time, Exempt

Salary Range: $45,000-$75,000

Position Overview: The Director of Family and Adult Programs oversees the design and implementation of summer and year-round programs for families and adults, and is responsible for furthering the goals of Camp Calumet through active recruitment of staff, visiting chaplains, and guests. The Director of Family and Adult Programs is a key member of Calumet's administration, and will join a team that is committed to the social statements of the ELCA. Ideally the Director of Family and Adult Programs demonstrates strength in community worship and music that Calumet guests have long valued at this vitally important institution of the Lutheran Church.

Duties include:

* Work with Camp Director of Children & Youth and Executive Director to supervise Calumet’s day-to-day operations.

*Implement Christian Education programs for families and adults, with a willingness to support congregations of the New England Synod.

*Demonstrated excellence in retreat leadership and demonstrated excellence in the area of guest hospitality. Hosting retreat groups as needed seeking to make all feel welcomed and meeting needs of guests.

*Coordinate community worship at Calumet.

*Evaluate existing programs and recommend additions and deletions as needed.

*Recruit, train, and supervise all program and guest services personnel, both volunteer and paid, who are engaged for work at Calumet during the non-summer months.

*Consult with the Camp Director for Children and Youth on decisions related to the employment of persons for Family and Adult programs and Calumet Day Camp programs during the summer months.

*Train and supervise all personnel, both volunteer and paid, who work in Family and Adult programs and Calumet’s Day Camp programs during the summer months.

*Purchase supplies and equipment necessary for the safe, efficient, and effective operation of Family and Adult programs.

*Maintain all requirements mandated by municipal, state, and federal governmental agencies, as well as standards for accreditation of the American Camping Association.

*Promote the programs of Calumet utilizing social media and public relations activities, including visiting congregations, assisting with development of brochures and other printed materials, etc.

*Connect with congregations, ministries, worshipping communities and other ministry partners which serve families and adults of New England and of the New England Synod.

*Coordinate a process for development and implementation of new programs and initiatives which enhance the effectiveness of Calumet as a resource for the congregations of the New England Synod.

Qualifications:

*Passion for exploring and enjoying the waterways and mountains of New Hampshire

*Demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities.

*A team-oriented attitude with the ability to relate well to others. Ability to actively mentor staff.

*Minimum of two years of administrative or supervisory experience.

*Ability to meet State of New Hampshire licensing and American Camping Accreditation Standards.

*The ability to exercise independent thinking and initiative particularly when preparing and implementing programs and recruiting staff.

*Familiarity with Lutheran worship.

*Pass state and national background check.

*Relevant bachelor’s degree preferred.

*Valid driver’s license.

Compensation and Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance, 10% retirement contribution with or without employee match, paid time off, and professional development. Compensation commensurate with experience.
