THEME: Discovering Your Bucket List
COORDINATOR & SONG LEADER: Judy Hakanson Smith, Deacon, Calumet Staff
Lutherhostels at Camp Calumet are popular gatherings for adults over the age of 50. People come from all over New England to enjoy the beauty of God’s creation here in the mountains and lakes of New Hampshire.
Inspired by "The Bucket List" movie, this fall's Lutherhostel will invite guests to think and reflect on our own bucket lists...what are the things we want to accomplish in our senior years? What is our relationship with God in the midst of aging?
A true bucket list item: a trip up the Mt Washington Auto Road for a sunset adventure....riding in a specially designed mountain coach, guests will hear expert guides explain the ora, fauna, history, geology, and the weather of Mt Washington.
A typical day at a Lutherhostel will include morning devotions and singing, a bible or topical study with the guest chaplain, delicious meals in our conference center, and time to enjoy the Calumet property through walks, time on the beach, a ride on a pontoon boat, or sitting on our sunny porch in a comfortable rocking chair. Judy will plan an excursion to explore the beautiful fall colors and flavors of autumn. Apple picking and cider making are optional fall activities too! Of course, there will be Chef Wade's fall flavored pies and apple cider to enjoy. And naturally, a Lutherhostel would not be complete without a good old fashioned hymn sing one evening. Evenings include popcorn and lots of games...bridge, cribbage, dominoes, Skip-Bo have been known to be played in the dining room!!! Recently Parchesi has made a re-appearance too!
