FUNdraiser Events

Walkathon_Group_11

Calumet hosts a few FUNdraisers during the year.  In 2012, we are looking forward to three fun events that we hope will help to raise between $20,000 and $25,000 in all.

The Annual Walkathon in Gloucester, Massachusetts

The first one will take place in Gloucester, Massachusetts on May 12th. It's the Annual Calumet Walkathon hosted by our friends at St. Paul Lutheran in Gloucester. This is the first time we'll be walking the route in May rather than April (we're expecting a sunny, warm day). This is the perfect event for people of all ages. There are strollers and walking sticks, Runners and walker, groups, families, and even individuals who use the 5 mile walk to do some quiet reflection. We begin together at 10 AM and end with a wonderful BBQ lunch on the beautiful beach. Click the link below for more info.

Heritage_Country_ClubThe Calumet Open

If golf is your thing, then the annual Calumet Open is an event you won't want to miss. This is another annual event that is held on a Monday in July. Typically, the Calumet Open is held in the Worcester area so that our participants in southern Connecticut and in New Hampshire can have a reasonable drive. This year, the Calumet Open will be held on July 16th at Heritage Country Club in Charlton (near the junction of Route 84 and the Mass Pike).

Foursomes can register at a cost of $600 (includes a round of golf, the driving range, practice putting, a top-notch steak dinner and dessert, a light lunch on the course, and access to some awesome raffle prizes. If you're not a golfer, but want to help make the Calumet Open a success, consider sponsoring a hole at a cost of $100. Whether it's the name of your church, your business, or a simple message to the golfers, your sign will show how much you love Calumet! Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. RTB_2011_picThe Reach the Beach Relay

For the 3rd year in a row, Calumet will be participating in the Reach the Beach Relay, a 200 mile stretch from Cannon Mountain to Hampton Beach. We'll have two teams this year -- four vans and twenty four runners. Tom Schauer will be the captain of one of the teams (his 3rd consecutive year!!) and Vicki Mele Hopkins has stepped up to head up the second team. Statistician Pete Schiller has already begun getting the spreadsheet in order. Pete, running for the 3rd time this year, has been vitally important to the team in knowing the details of the course and the complicated Reach the Beach handbook. We've already got a team roster for 2012.

Check it out: Tom Schauer (3), Vicki Mele Hopkins (3), Pete Schiller (3), Knute Ogren (3), Big Matt Hayn (2), Gary Anderson (2), Karen Mele Lukeman (2), Kim Rogerson (2), Todd Gothberg, Jess Bergman White, Croce Verrochi, Jack Plante, Megan Lane, Kurt Jones, Keren Paquette, Sam Stalley, Ryan Clancy, Dave McHale, Bill Smith, Anthony Kent Case, Julie Anderson, Peter Ernst, Andrea Bentley Melle, and Jim Doyle (Doyle was a Team Van Driver for two years and now is jumping onto the road).

To participate in this wild fundraiser, you'll want to (1) make a pledge of financial support (coming soon), and (2) join the Reach the Beach Calumet All Stars Facebook Page which will be activated in early summertime. You'll be able to follow every step of the race and cheer the teams on from the comfort of your own couch, bar stool, coffee shop, desk, kitchen table -- wherever!  Keep your eyes open for details.
